HOTELIERS ASSOCIATION OF THRACE
The Hoteliers Association of Thrace (HAT) was founded in 1992 and is a non-profitable organization. Its main objectives are:
The Bodies of the Association are:
The HAT owns offices in the town centre, equipped with all the modern IT, backing its members with a server based mailing and intranet information system (www.thracehotels.gr, kb.thracehotels.gr).
THA participates in all relevant local, regional and national policy making bodies and committees concerning tourism. The Association participates as a member to the Pan-Hellenic Federation of Hoteliers as well as to Hellenic Chamber of Hotels since 1992. Recently the Association was invited to participate as a member to the Regional Committee for Tourism of the Region of East Macedonia & Thrace.
The HAT has already implemented successfully an Interreg IIIA 2000-2006 Greece – Bulgaria / PHARE CBC Project titled ‘Private Sector in Cross Border Tourist Enterprising’. This project created the basis for the further cooperation and capitalisation of the experience gained and the further networking of the formed partnership. The implementation of projects is directly attended by the Administrative Board and its 7 members. The activities that cannot be realised by the association itself are externalised.
HAT is the only representative body of the Hotelier Sector in Thrace and so the only responsible together with relative unions and regional and national authorities to form policy on the matter. For that reason, the Association participates with its representatives in all the relative boards and committees that deal with tourism in the broader Region of East Macedonia & Thrace. Furthermore, the Association in the last 5 years has concentrated its activities in the training of its members and in the exchange of good practices activities with relevant international partners.
The HAT has approximately 120 members all over Thrace and may well provide for the proper basis for the practical application of the activities and the deliverables of the project. The final beneficiaries may well benefit from the outcomes of the project while providing feedback for its realistic usage.
HAT’s revenue arises from memberships, income from the implementation of several projects, donations etc. The balance of the last 3 years presents a credit balance of 40.000 €, which exceeds its national contribution for the specific project.
